A trait is usually something that is a permanent part of a persons personality or being. For most people, a trait is something they have throughout their entire life. There are very few instances where a person can actually change a trait, but there are times when a person can control a trait in order to fit into a certain lifestyle. Often the culture in which a person is raised has a lot to do with the leadership traits they possess. Someone who is raised in Japan will not possess the same traits as someone who was born in the United States, but this does not necessarily mean that this person cannot become an effective leader in the United States.

Leadership traits are usually determined by a persons lifestyle and culture. There is not any one trait that is right or wrong, but a persons leadership strength is usually determined by how that person can handle the trait which is a part of their life and personality. When becoming a leader in a different culture from which you were raised, one must adapt to the culture they are trying to lead. Often they will find that they can use a combination of both cultures to find a happy medium that is suitable for everyone.

Leadership Traits That Determine Success Or Failure

A leader cannot be selfish. This will not produce an environment which is productive; instead it will produce a counterproductive environment.

An effective leader will not let his/her temper get out of control in front of their employees. Many people have explosive tempers and have a difficult time controlling them. A good leader will take the time to calm down before confronting someone who has done something wrong.

Leadership traits that lead to success are enthusiasm and self-assurance. A true leader will be enthusiastic about their work and their enthusiasm will filter down to their employees. They will possess emotional stability and have a determination to succeed. They will be confident with themselves that they can get the job done. They will be tough minded, but yet they will be approachable with suggestions.

For one to be successful, they must have the leadership traits to know how to lead. Someone who is too rigid will probably fail because they do not possess the ability to change. They also must be able to show consideration for their employees. Being callous and uncaring will not motivate employees to do a good job.
