When you’re a leader, you have a lot of pressure put on you to say the right things that will make your subordinates work hard and try the best they can. You don’t have to come up with original leadership quotes. You can use leadership quotes that have been used in the past as long as they have shown to be effective. Good leadership quotes should make your subordinates think. They should make them want to strive to be better than they already are and they should be memorable so that they stick in your subordinates’ heads. You can use any leadership quotes you want but here are a few examples.

Change Your Ways

One of the best leadership quotes that many leaders have used in the past is, “If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.” Think about that for a moment. This is a great quote. It basically means that if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll get the same results as in the past. Therefore, if you’re always failing at something, try something new. Change your ways. Try new and better ways of doing things and you’ll soon see great results. This is a leadership quote that’s memorable and is also very effective.

The Weakest Link

Probably the best known leadership quote is “The chain is only as strong as its weakest link.” Everyone has heard this quote at some time in their lives. It means that the weakest person can bring down the entire organization. If you have someone on your team who is always late or who is always disruptive, it can affect the entire team or organization. Therefore, everyone should strive to be as strong as they can. Everyone should try not to be the weakest link. If the weakest link doesn’t want to strive to become better, it’s best, as a leader, to get rid of that person so the rest of the team can become a better unit.

There are many more leadership quotes to be found. You may want to come up with a few on your own. Just remember that quotes are only part of the job. You can quote all day long but if you’re not leading by example, your quotes will only go in one ear and out the other. Leading others is no small job but it can be done if you truly care about those you’re leading and you truly care about the cause your leading them for.

If you want to be a good leader, there are several skills that it is important to have. Though there are different styles of leadership, certain skills are fundamental and are intrinsic qualities of a good leader. A common misconception about the list of leadership skills is that they include volume and bossiness, but this is not true at all. Leaders and non-leaders alike will benefit from learning what skills to look for in a leader.

Being A People Person

Part of being a good leader and possessing good leadership skills is knowing how to work with people. Being abrasive and bossy is not considered being a good leader. Good leadership is based largely on having good people skills. This means understanding both individual and group needs, as well as being able to respond to these needs. If you are able to do these things, then you will be able to motivate your team to do what you want instead of forcing or scaring them into doing so.

Putting Yourself Above The Crowd

As a leader, an important leadership skill is being able to set the example. While it is important that you do not put yourself above the rules or the law, you must also be able to act as the representative for the entire group, and that means setting a positive example and maintaining a positive image. This also means controlling the group and making sure that the group remains productive. The leadership skills of working with people and managing people are equal in importance.

Conflict Resolution

Perhaps the most important leadership skills one could have are conflict resolution. As a leader, you will be sure to encounter conflict more than once. Sometimes, this might be within your group. In that situation, counseling skills might come in handy, because they will enable you to be the mediator in a sticky situation.

Other times, the conflict will occur with the leader of another group, or with your own superior. Though these kinds of conflicts can be uncomfortable, it is important that you as a leader have the ability to handle them.

Being The Best You Can Be

Perhaps you are already in a leadership role of some sort. In that case, learning about the most important leadership skills will only help you to become a better leader. If you are not by nature a leader, then knowing about the skills that are important in leadership will only give you a better set of criteria when you evaluate your next boss or superior. Either way, leadership skills are extremely valuable for both the leader and the follower.
